Add Delete Plate to the plate row menu beside Duplicate Plate, enabled
when Remove Selected Plate is. Drop the Plates tab's add-plate button
and the Plate menu's Add and Remove items: the list's trailing empty
plate already provides new plates, and removal stays on the tab.

Dragging a dimension's label moves the dimension: a linear one slides
out from the drawing (never onto it) and its label along the line, an
inline one slides its label, a leader's label goes anywhere and the
leader follows. A click without dragging still opens the editor.
The preview zooms with the wheel, pans with the middle button and fits
again with F or a middle double-click. Once zoomed or panned by hand,
parameter edits keep the view; a new shape or configuration fits it and
puts dragged dimensions back. An open editor follows its label.

The Shape Library no longer has a side panel of inputs. Each length is a
dimension line or leader on the preview; click its label to type a new
value (Enter applies, Esc cancels, Tab moves to the next dimension), as
Edit Clamps does on the plate. Invalid values keep the editor open in
red and the last good shape on screen. Settings with no place on the
drawing (sides, pipe size, clearance, blind) are clickable notes along
the bottom. The flange hole leader carries the count beside the size,
such as "Ø7/8" x 8 holes".
Shapes declare their dimensions through ShapeDefinition.GetDimensions;
lengths show as fractions when exact to 1/64 (Fraction.Format). Edit
Clamps' inline text box moves to a shared DimensionBox.

Copying a layout meant recreating the plate and copying its parts by hand.
Ctrl+drag a row in the Plates list drops a copy at that slot; the row's
right-click menu has Duplicate Plate, which inserts the copy after it.
Plate.CopyLayout copies the sheet (size, outline, spacing, quadrant, grain,
clamps, support bed), the parts with their programs and lead-in state,
common-line groups and cut-off definitions, regenerated in their places in
the sequence, as a save and reload would. The copy is one sheet with no
stock item codes, since those name particular physical sheets. The desktop
gives it its own cutting parameters and records it as one undo step.

The empty new-plate header read only "New plate (empty)", so the sheet
size of the plate about to be nested was hidden until parts were added.
FormatHeader now appends the size (and quantity above one) there too.

Make Nests bound each tab it nested to its saved record but left the
tab's history off its save point, so the tab showed " *" and closing it
asked to save. Yes uploaded a second revision, and a release that had
already looked up that draft (the panel asks the operator to save and
close an open draft) then merged with If-Match on the old revision: the
server refused it, that group failed, no nest after it was saved and the
release was not recorded. End() then closed the leftover tabs through
the unsaved prompt, whose Yes the release lockout refused.
- Binding a released tab marks its save point (EditNestForm.MarkSaved).
- Make Nests re-reads each merge target and merges at the revision now on
the server; one saved while the release runs is still refused.
- End() closes the tabs it did not save without the prompt
(CloseDiscardingChanges), after taking them off the release list.

The Layout label counted parts off the plate or inside the edge spacing, but
nothing showed which part or where, so the user had to hunt for it. Each edge
finding now gets a canvas marker like the overlap and spacing ones: a red
crosshair where a part leaves the sheet and an orange ring at the gap to the
edge, in every visible display mode, with hover text that carries the finding's
message. Markers are retained across edits like the other overlay findings
(only a changed part's marker drops), and a sheet size, edge spacing or outline
change clears them. Validate Nest already located these findings through
PostVerificationFinding.Location.
"Near edge" / "inside the edge spacing" read as a spacing rule rather than a
placement problem, so the label, overlay messages, PlateEdgeReview findings
and the Validate Nest category now say the part is outside the work area. Off
the plate keeps its wording. The PostVerificationKind.EdgeSpacing name stays.

Copy and Cut paste through ActionClone, which added each clone to the plate
but never recorded the groups the sources were in, so a pasted common-line
pair came out as separate parts held to the part spacing. ActionClone now
reads the copied parts' groups when it starts (before Cut removes the
sources and their groups) and joins each paste's clones the same way, at the
source group's kerf.

Moving one member of a common-line group used to break the group, so a drag
or nudge silently undid a join. Selecting a member, by click or window, now
selects its whole group, so drag, nudge, push, rotate and align carry the
joined parts together and keep their shared spans.
Right-clicking a part now offers Join Common Line and Remove Common Line,
running the Plate > Arrange commands on the selection. A right-click on a part
keeps its selection (or selects it with its group) instead of clearing it, so
the menu has something to act on; a right-click on empty plate still clears.

With the filter on and every drawing nested, the Drawings tab was a blank
list with no hint why. It now shows a note that turns the filter off when
clicked. The filter is never turned off on its own: it is the user's
choice and would stay off when new drawings arrive.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Clicking and window selection paired the cut-off program's codes as
rapid/cut at even positions. A head-locked far-edge segment carries lock
comments (and, cut from the far edge, a rapid return) between its cuts,
so no pair matched and the line could not be selected, though it drew.
CutOff.CutStrokes now walks the motions once for the renderer, click
hit test, window selection and the Sheet Cut-Off preview, so what is
selectable matches what is drawn.

FormStartPosition.CenterParent is not applied to modeless windows, so the
viewer opened wherever Windows placed it. Center it on its owner in OnLoad,
shrunk to fit and kept inside that screen's working area.

Slice 3 of common-line cutting. On costly plate (N26-295: 3/16 RA310S at about
$2,500 a sheet) pairing parts one kerf apart fits the part the spacing cannot:
the last plate's 38 parts fit on one 48x120 with Auto Nest only with pairs.
- Drawing Properties gains "Allow common line" (Drawing.AllowCommonLine, off by
default because customer edge-quality needs vary). The nest's CommonLineUsage
(Off / When it adds parts / Whenever available) is set in Auto Nest and seeded
from Tools > Nest Defaults; both persist (nest.json, defaults.json).
- NestPipeline runs the ordinary solve, then, with a level on, trials where
eligible parts are offered as kerf-gap pair compounds. Placed pairs expand into
parts plus explicit NestJobCommonLine groups, are validated again, and
CommonLineRanking keeps a trial only by the level: count first, then sheets;
"when it adds parts" keeps the plain layout on a tie, "whenever" also takes a
shorter cut or less material, never at the cost of a part. Engines, FillScore
and their comparers are unchanged; Off asks the engine exactly what it did.
- NestLayoutCheck exempts members only through a sheet's explicit group list and
only when the job allows common lines; materializing and committing create
Plate.CommonLines.
- Server nesting writes common-line jobs as version 3 and replays the recorded
trial answers, so the desktop binds the same groups.
- Fill Area honors the level through a PlateFillService overload.
- The benchmark gains --common-lines <level> --kerf <k>.
Benchmark (synthetic nests + N26-295, --parallel 1): with no flag and with
--common-lines off every engine matches the base commit; with a level on no
layout becomes invalid and three runs save a sheet at equal nested area.

The Database-mode Open dialog now allows multi-row selection and a Get
Materials command (button and context menu) that downloads the chosen
nests, or every nest the current search matches across all pages, and
lists the sheets they use by material, grade, thickness and size with
the quantity and the nests using each. Needed to order stock for a whole
job's worth of nests at once instead of opening them one by one.
Material, grade and thickness come from each nest's server record;
sizes and duplicates from its plates, skipping plates with no parts.
Copy All and Save CSV export the list.

Tabs suit thin plate, but on anything thicker than 0.25 in the parts
are too hard to break out of the sheet, and the Cutting Parameters
dialog was one global set for every job. Its settings now live on the
nest's machine thickness: leads on the existing Outside/Inside Cuts
tabs, and lead-in angle rounding, tabs and pierce on a new Tabs &
Pierce tab (ThicknessConfig.Cutting). In Database mode every
workstation gets the same settings through the shared machine.
The dialog and the Place Lead-in panel say what they edit, and save
back to that thickness (MachineCuttingDefaults.WriteTo, converted to
the machine's units). A thickness with no Tabs & Pierce of its own, or
a nest the machine has no thickness for, keeps this PC's settings as
before. If the machine can't be saved (server offline, a conflict),
the edit is kept on this PC for that job and the user is told.
Machine Configuration can copy one thickness's Tabs & Pierce to
thinner or thicker ones, so the 0.25 in rule takes a few clicks.
An older desktop saving a shared machine would silently erase these
settings, since it doesn't know them. Machine configuration classes
now keep unknown fields, and the server refuses a machine save that
leaves out a field the stored machine has a value for, telling the
user to update OpenNest.
The Plan Cutting status line now reports tabs from SupportTabs; since
"Tab every part" was retired it always said off.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Nobody tabs every part, but tabbing by size is useful even on a plate
that has a support grid. Cutting Settings > Tabs now offers "Only tab
parts the support grid can't hold level" or "Tab parts by size"
(CuttingParameters.TabBySize), which ignores the bed and tabs each part
whose minimum-area bounding rectangle's narrow side is in the range.
The support grid choice still falls back to that range on plates with
no bed, as before.
The range fields become TabSizeMinWidth/TabSizeMaxWidth; their JSON
keys stay noBedTabMinWidth/noBedTabMaxWidth so saved settings and nests
read unchanged. TabsEnabled stays as the per-contour flag Plan Cutting,
Place Lead-in and drawing pins set on the parts they tab.
Saved user settings with "Tab every part" read as tabs by size from 0
to 9999, which tabs the same parts. Only the user's settings migrate;
a plate's recorded parameters and pins replay as planned.
Plan Cutting, Place Lead-in and the pre-post review all go through
SupportTabSettings, so they agree on which parts need a tab. A
size-tabbed part is held by any clear tab, so it is never a rapid
obstacle.

.NET 8 defaults Process.Start to UseShellExecute=false, so handing it the
temp DXF tried to run the file as an executable and threw an unhandled
Win32Exception that took the app down. Open it through the shell so the
.dxf association is used, report write/launch failures in a message box,
and replace characters a file name cannot hold in the nest name.

Set Offset Increment gains a "Calculated distance" option. With it on, the
arrow keys move the selection by its own size plus the part spacing,
measured on its geometry like a fill's copy distance, so it lands tight
without a push back. The move stops early at an edge, clamp or part, and a
clone preview steps clear of the copy just placed.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Operators want plates of the same size grouped together so material
doesn't need sorting when it arrives; there was no way to change plate
order. Rows can now be dragged to a new position (with a drop line and
edge auto-scroll), or moved with Alt+Up/Alt+Down. Each move is one
undoable "Move Plate" step and only reorders: quantities are untouched.
The trailing empty new-plate sentinel stays last. An empty plate moved
to the end becomes the sentinel, as the sentinel rule already does on
reload, so the order shown is the order saved.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The status bar showed only the material name and thickness, so nests
of the same material in different grades looked identical there. The
grade now follows the name, e.g. "Material: Steel A36 · 0.25 in".

Export Nest Report only wrote a file, so checking or printing a report meant
finding it and opening another program. View Nest Report renders the same
snapshot to a private temp folder and opens it in a WebView2 viewer with
Save As and Print; closing the window deletes the temp copy. Export and View
share the capture and write guards.

Review fixes for ledger-first Make Nests:
- The release renest (offer, staged run, codes, note) moves into
OpenNest.Desktop.ReleaseRenest, shared by the headless panel, the
live main window and the tests. Codes are given inside each commit, so
the live tab's Auto Nest undo step records them; before, undo and redo
dropped every ledger code.
- A bundle repeats one code per sheet: a later nest of the run lost the
whole bundle once an earlier nest took one sheet. Taken sheets are now
counted per code (LedgerCodeFilter.ExcludeCopies).
- A stage whose layout is not kept lists every copy it asked for as not
placed (the proposal cannot be kept), and a rejected ledger layout
says "MaterialLedger not used: Auto Nest could not keep a layout on
its stock" instead of a bare "No MaterialLedger stock used".
- "no free stock" is said only when the ledger had none; otherwise the
note counts what was left out (on other nests, taken by earlier nests
of this release, too small, unknown shape).
- The ledger is not read for a nest with nothing to nest, the live read
runs under the tab's stop token, a reason's own full stop is not
doubled, and the sheet count is the codes given.
With Nest after release ticked, one ReleaseLedgerStock is shared by the
whole run and passed to the renest step, headless or live in the main
window. The live tab runs one Auto Nest per stage (ledger stock, then
the Nest Defaults sheet), records the ledger locations for the plate
tooltips, and the group's note says how many sheets came from the
ledger or why it was not used.
A blank Made By now starts from the name the user last typed there, or
their Windows user name when they never typed one. Changing the box on OK
remembers the new name in user settings; clearing it falls back to the
Windows name again. A nest's own author is shown unchanged and is not
remembered unless the user edits it.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A nest window gave no sign that its nest had changed since the last
save, and closing it (or the app) discarded the edits silently. The
undo history already tracks a save point, so the title now ends in
" *" while the nest is off it (or holds an edit no scope recorded),
and closing asks to save, discard or cancel. Yes saves through the
storage in use; a database save cancels the close and closes the
window once the upload succeeds.
Saves now commit any unrecorded edit first so the save point covers
what was written. The window's cleanup moves from OnClosing to
OnFormClosed: another window can still cancel closing the app, and a
nest window must not lose its plate manager when that happens.

The cut-off line renderer paired codes as rapid/cut at even indices. A
head-locked far-edge segment carries lock and unlock comments between its
cuts, so its overcut was never dashed and later segments could fall out of
step. Past the sheet only the dark part outline showed, which read as the
line having lost its orange-red color. Walk the motions instead and draw
each cut from the previous point.

A server Auto Nest result could only be reviewed in the session that sent it,
and nothing stopped two desktops from keeping the same result. Phase 3 adds
My Server Jobs, so results that finished while OpenNest was closed are easy
to find, and records each review on the server.
- Server: GET /api/nest-jobs lists jobs newest first with state, engine,
submitter, times, queue position, review and the worker's summary (parts,
sheets, utilization, unplaced). It filters to active, finished or
unreviewed jobs and to a submitter (a bare user name matches that user on
any workstation). An ETag turns unchanged polls into 304s. Schema v17 adds
nestId, review and summary columns, only where missing.
- Keep once: POST .../keep and .../discard take If-Match on the job revision
and change an unreviewed result only once. A second desktop gets 409 with
who kept it. DELETE removes finished jobs. A succeeded job keeps its
package until it is reviewed, so a later session can rebuild the job.
- Retention: OPENNEST_JOB_RETENTION_DAYS (default 7) deletes finished jobs
with their results. It runs on claims and list reads. A malformed value
fails startup instead of deleting results early.
- Worker: reports the result's summary with the transcript. A job cancelled
while its result arrived keeps no summary (found in the Docker smoke run).
- Desktop: Nest > My Server Jobs polls the list every 3 s; polling rather
than per-job SSE because the list must show other desktops' jobs and
removals. Open rebuilds the job from job.json against the open nest's own
drawings. New per-drawing geometry fingerprints make the freshness check
work across sessions. Cancel Job and Remove act on the selected job. A
status-bar item counts this user's results waiting for review; there is
no popup. Auto Nest's review now records Keep on the server before it
commits, and records Discard too.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A server Auto Nest showed only "Nesting on the nest server" for however long
the job took, and Stop could take a whole 20-second heartbeat to reach the
worker. Now the desktop shows the same Best plan so far strip a local run
does, and a job that ends while OpenNest is in the background says so.
- Worker: RecordingNestingEngine taps each solve's progress. NestJobReporter
stores only the latest stage and plan, at most once every two seconds, so a
chatty engine cannot flood SQLite. Each round also reads the cancel flag,
so Stop reaches the worker within one interval (about 2 s in the Docker
smoke test).
- Server: schema v16 adds per-job revision, progress, plan and planRevision
columns, which the upgrade adds only where missing. PUT .../progress and
.../plan renew the lease like a heartbeat. GET .../events is Server-Sent
Events, woken by an in-process change signal: plan and job events with
revision ids, keep-alives, Last-Event-ID resume, and the final state always
sent before the stream ends. GET .../plan serves the polling fallback.
Progress goes over HTTP because the worker never opens the database
(another host, NFS).
- Desktop: NestJobWatch follows the stream. When the stream drops it polls
once and reconnects, and it polls throughout when the server has no stream.
RemoteNestPlanPreview draws worker plans from the client's own request,
including cutout-trial frame proxies. ServerNestNotice shows a tray balloon
(a toast on Windows 10/11) when the job ends while OpenNest is not in
front. A real toast would need an AUMID shortcut that Velopack does not
promise. Clicking the balloon brings the review forward; nothing is kept
without Keep.

PartSupport findings counted toward the headline and the Post Anyway
checkbox but had no tile or list group, so an operator saw "1 warning"
with nothing to read and was likely to tick through a part that may tip
once cut free. A test now fails if any finding kind is left unlisted.

File > Drawing Library Grid shows a page of library drawings side by
side. Check All Pages walks every page, downloading each drawing, timing
its label search without the paint's cell budget on a worker with a
10 s limit, then timing its paint, and lists drawings that fail, run
slow or would freeze a preview. It was added to confirm no other library
drawing hangs on load the way the twin-outline drawing did: a run over
all 40,757 drawings on the work server found no hangs or failures.

Long fills read as thousands of milliseconds. Keep milliseconds under
a second, then show seconds and minutes so the time stays readable.

An empty canvas corner gave no sign of whether a check was still running,
which matters on large nests. A Layout section beside utilization now
follows the automatic check: checking, OK, or findings in red, with the
full wording in its tooltip. It has its own label so rechecks never
replace the last command's status text.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Drop the check mark: a clear result, and an automatic recheck after one,
now draw nothing. Findings and failed, canceled or incomplete checks keep
their text, and views without automatic rechecks keep their pending text.
The status bar still reports a manual check's result.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A pending or running recheck no longer swaps the green check for status
text. A clear result stays as a gray check, and earlier findings stay as
dimmed text, neither of which claims anything about the edited layout.
Views without automatic rechecks still ask for a manual check.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The overlap check now runs the pre-post part spacing scan on its snapshot,
so the canvas label and posting agree. Too-close pairs are counted in the
label and marked with an orange ring showing the gap, with hover details.
A fully checked plate with no findings draws a green check instead of
text; the status bar keeps the wording. Changing the plate's part spacing
now stales the report, and repeated parts share one offset outline so
automatic rechecks stay fast.

F1 opening help kept taking over from placing a part. Help stays on
the Help menu and F1 belongs to the Clone tool alone.

Plate commands need an open nest and no running job; Trim/Extend Cut-Off
needs a cut-off on the plate and Sequence by Path needs two parts. The
Plate menu's Trim/Extend item follows the same rule.

The header gets a fourth zoom button that starts the existing Zoom Window
action, with a matching dashed-window icon also shown on View > Zoom To >
Area. It stays out of the inspection's live zoom controls: inspection owns
Escape, so a zoom window could not be cancelled there.
Clone's Delete only removed its source parts, so parts picked with
Select All stayed on the plate until Escape ended the action.

Windows reposts a mouse move when a dialog opens or closes, so Set
Offset Increment threw away arrow-key nudges by snapping the previews
back to the cursor. Only a real cursor move now moves them.

Show Original drew nothing until Simplify ran, and then showed entities that
had already been through import cleanup. The importers now capture the
entities before any optimization and the overlay draws those from load, while
Simplify keeps starting from the cleaned entities.

Desktop test classes each kept identical PumpUntil, Show, Mouse, All,
PressKey, Raise, SetBackingField and Field helpers. They now import
FormTesting and TestReflection; the two Field variants that read a base
type's field or unwrap DrawingLibraryForm keep a one-line wrapper.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Ten desktop test classes drew the same squares and the same 4 x 2
rectangle in private helpers, in two equivalent styles. They now use
TestPrograms.Square, ClockwiseSquare and Rectangle.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The drawing library, drawing sets, saved nests, add-release and edit-set
grids each repeated the left-click header check that sorts on the
server. BrowsePager.SortByHeaderAsync now does it for the grid and
session it already drives. No behavior change.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
MachineConfigForm and SavedNestsForm built their tab pages, and
CuttingPanel and LeadsEditor their label / input / hint grids, with
identical private helpers. Both now use ControlFactory. No behavior
change.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
HorizontalLine and VerticalLine had identical constructors, Dispose and
resize handling. They now derive from SeparatorLine and only say which
way the line runs. No behavior change.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Plate > Set as Default and Nest > Edit's Defaults tab only changed the
open nest, so new nests never picked up the values. Set as Default now
also saves the new-nest defaults, and the Defaults tab gains an opt-in
"Use these defaults for new nests" check.
Machine thicknesses can now set part and edge spacing. A nest takes them
when its material, grade, thickness or machine changes and when a release
creates it; BOM import seeds its groups from them. Spacing edited in the
same dialog stays, and only an untouched trailing sheet follows.
