DefaultPlateFiller becomes PlateFiller(plate, policy, layout); PlateFillerBase
and StripPlateFiller are gone. PlateLayout.FillThenPack is the old
orchestrator path (Fill and both Remnants); PlateLayout.Strips is the old
StripPlateFiller.Nest, and Strip is Fill policy plus Strips layout.
Lifetimes are unchanged: a strip-layout filler runs every Fill, group Fill
and PackArea on a fresh inner filler and gives each strip fresh remnant
fillers, so learned angles and PlateNumber never leak into them. The
comparer, preferred direction, trim axis and angle recording now read the
policy directly. The base class's unsorted two-angle BuildAngles is dropped:
only DefaultPlateFiller's pipeline called BuildAngles, and Strip never ran it.
Layout-neutral: all 29 FillStackCharacterizationTests pins pass unchanged.

Fill, Vertical Remnant and Horizontal Remnant are now three values of an
internal PlateFillPolicy that DefaultPlateFiller takes (Fill by default),
replacing RemnantPlateFiller and RemnantFillPolicy. The policy holds the
comparer factory, preferred direction, trim axis and angle mode; the
remnant angle mode still replaces the angle builder outright, and the
public FillPolicy that strategies read is unchanged. Layout-neutral: the
fill-stack characterization pins pass unchanged.

Auto Nest on MaterialLedger stock now records which inventory item each
physical sheet uses, so ML can hold exactly those items instead of matching
by size.
- Core: Plate.StockItemCodes (entry i = sheet i of Quantity; empty = uncoded).
Core invalidates it: a resize clears it (turning the sheet keeps it), a lower
Quantity truncates it, a nest material/grade/thickness change clears every
plate's, ClearAll clears it and new plates never copy it.
- Desktop Auto Nest: after a kept proposal is committed, LedgerStockAssignment
deals each ledger row's codes to its plates in Nest.Plates order (bundles
repeat their code; clamp-removal variants use their base row). Rejected,
discarded or cancelled proposals never reach it. NestPipelineCommit.PairWithStock
pairs committed plates with their solved stock; the engine stays ledger-free.
- Plate list tooltip: "Stock: CODE (location)"; locations are display-only.
- nest.json: optional plate stockItemCodes, omitted when empty, read leniently.
- /api/nests/{id}/sheets: new plates[] { index, width, length, quantity,
stockItemCodes }; sheets[] unchanged.

With Nest after release ticked, Make Nests now minimizes the Drawing
Sets window and nests each group's built nest in its own main-window
tab, before it is saved, with Auto Nest's progress window and live plan
strip, one nest at a time in plan order. Stop there (or switching tabs)
stops the whole release, as the panel's Stop does; the layout is kept
by the same rules as the headless renest, without the Keep review.
After upload each tab is bound to its saved record instead of a second
tab opening; a tab whose nest was not saved is closed. The main window
stays in front, and the Drawing Sets window flashes its taskbar button
when a group failed or was refused or the release was not recorded.
NestRenest splits into CreateRequest and Keep so the solve runs off the
UI thread and the commit on it; AutoNestCommand's solve-with-progress
step is shared rather than copied.

A release now ends in nests ready to cut rather than empty drafts, and a
merge no longer leaves the draft it cleared waiting for someone to run Auto
Nest. "Nest after release" (on by default) runs Auto Nest headless on every
released group, new or merged, before anything is uploaded.
NestRenest removes every plate and nests each drawing's required quantity
onto sheets from the nest's plate defaults and plate-size options. It keeps
a layout only when it is valid and keepable, so an invalid result never
reaches the server; the nest is saved without sheets and the operator is
told to run Auto Nest. Unplaced copies stay as remaining quantity, and the
status column lists sheets, utilization and what did not fit. A new Nesting
progress stage reports each group, and cancelling while nesting saves
nothing.

NestPipeline.Run now bundles parts that fit other parts' enclosed cutouts
into their frames before the selected engine, for desktop, Console, MCP and
API alike. A valid complete bundled trial is kept; a refused trial falls back
to the ordinary solve (reason on RefusedCutoutTrial), and an incomplete trial
is compared with it, keeping whichever valid proposal places more. An
incomplete but valid trial is now keepable like any incomplete result.
Expanded sheets list each frame's inserts before the frame, so the committed
order cuts every insert before the cutout that releases its slug.

Posting review now proves containment exactly as the cutting planner does
(shared NestedPartContainment) and warns when a nested part is cut after its
host (NestedCutOrder) or when a host's hole lead or the nested part's lead
meets the other's material (NestedLead), including subprogram hole poses.
Ambiguous containment is incomplete, never clear; fixed-lead motions are not
reported twice. A committed cutout preview warns until Plan Cutting cuts the
insert first.

Enabled clamp settings give a new nest its rail; whole-job Auto Nest
through the template stock, validated pipeline and commit keeps every
part clear of the clamps (an independent box oracle grown by the bottom
edge spacing) on every sheet while still using the edge between them,
for Rectangles and Default in quadrant 1 and Rectangles in quadrant 3.
Save and reload keep the rail, each sheet's zones and placements, and
do not write the empty tail sheet.
The multi-phase lattice fill (linear, pairs, rectangle best-fit, remainder) is
no longer meant to be the engine used by default, so it gets a name for what
it does. The registry lists it as Fill and maps the old name Default to it;
PlateFillService, PlateNesterFactory and NestJobOptions use Fill, and every
fill-strategy caller still accepts Default. Console --autonest now validates
engine names through NestingEngineRegistry.ResolveName so renamed names work.
Layouts are unchanged: Default and Fill resolve to the same fillers and the
golden layouts pass under the new name.
Desktop Auto Nest, Console --autonest, MCP autonest_plate and the API
NestRunner all run through NestPipeline, so nothing calls the old
orchestration any more.
Delete MultiPlateNester (with MultiPlateNestOptions, MultiPlateResult,
PlateResult, PartClass and PartSortOrder), PlateOptimizer and
PlateOptimizerResult, plus their tests. The explicit-strategy contract
those tests checked now lives at PlateFillService.ResolveStrategy, which
keeps its null-means-Default, canonical-name and unknown-name tests.
CreateFiller loses its internal visibility, which only the deleted
orchestrators used.
This breaks source and binary compatibility for external callers of the
removed types; whole-job callers use NestPipeline.Run or INestingEngine.
Part.Rotation is cumulative, so rebinding canonical parts with
CreateAtOrigin(original, p.Rotation) double-counted the drawing's own
rotation, and FromCanonical rotated each part about its Location, which
moved it off its slot and out of the work area. Add
CanonicalFrame.RebindToOriginal (rotation = part - original program
rotation, footprint aligned to the canonical part) and use it in the
three places that duplicated the old logic.
The MBR only fixes the frame modulo 90 degrees and nest results are not
90-degree symmetric (an L gave 56/43/42/42 parts by orientation).
CanonicalAngle.Compute now picks one of the four orientations from the
centroid offset; symmetric shapes keep the MBR orientation.
Fixes the three NestInvarianceTests.

Delete OpenNest.Engine/Nfp (AutoNester, BottomLeftFill, NfpCache,
SimulatedAnnealing, INestOptimizer, PlacedPart, SequenceEntry), the Core
InnerFitPolygon, and the NestPhase.Nfp member. None had callers outside the
folder: console --autonest and MCP autonest_plate call engine.Nest(), not
AutoNester.
Drop the Nfp cases from NestPhaseExtensionsTests, fix the --autonest help
text, and update CLAUDE.md. NoFitPolygon stays; BestFit pair evaluation
still uses it.

Repo-wide sweep with the pinned CSharpier 1.3.0 tool. Whitespace and
line-wrapping only; OpenNest.Engine.Tests (109) and OpenNest.IO.Tests
pass after reformat, full solution builds 0 errors.
Added .csharpierignore so csproj/config XML keeps its existing layout
(CSharpier's XML wrapping churns attributes with zero benefit).
Formatting is now enforceable: dotnet csharpier check . passes.
Verify that filling an L-shaped part produces consistent counts
regardless of the orientation it was imported at, and that all
placed parts stay within the plate work area.

- Convert static class to instance with private constructor; shared
parameters (template, plateOptions, salvageRate, minRemnantSize,
progress, token) become fields, eliminating parameter threading
across all private methods (10→3 params on Nest entry point stays
unchanged; private methods drop from 7-9 params to 1-2)
- Extract FillAndPlace helper consolidating the repeated
clone→fill→add-to-plate→deduct-quantity pattern (was duplicated
in 4 call sites)
- Merge FindScrapZones/FindViableRemnants (98% duplicate) into single
FindRemnants(plate, minRemnantSize, scrapOnly) method
- Extract ScoreZone helper and collapse duplicate normal/rotated
orientation checks into single conditional
- Extract CreateNewPlateResult helper for repeated PlateResult
construction + PlateOption lookup pattern

The consolidation pass was iterating stale remnant lists after placing
parts, causing overlapping placements. Now recalculates remnants from
the plate after each fill operation. Also added plate options to the
real nest file integration test.

Small parts no longer create their own plates during the main pass.
Instead they're deferred to the consolidation pass which fills them
into remaining space on existing plates, packing multiple drawing
types together. Drops from 9 plates to 4 on the test nest file.

Small parts must only go into scrap zones (both dims < minRemnantSize)
to preserve viable remnants. The implementer had inverted this, giving
small parts access to all remnants. Also fixed the test to verify
remnant preservation behavior and removed unused FindAllRemnants helper.

Implements the main Nest() method that ties together sorting,
classification, and placement across multiple plates. The method
processes items largest-first, placing medium/small parts into
remnant zones on existing plates before creating new ones. Includes
private helpers: TryPlaceOnExistingPlates, PlaceOnNewPlates,
TryUpgradeOrNewPlate, FindAllRemnants, and CloneItem.

Adds IsScrapRemnant(), FindScrapZones(), and FindViableRemnants() to
MultiPlateNester. A remnant is scrap only when both dimensions fall
below the minimum remnant size threshold (AND logic, not OR).

Introduces PartClass enum and Classify() static method that categorizes
parts as Large (exceeds half work area in either dimension), Medium
(area > 1/9 work area), or Small.

Implements static MultiPlateNester.SortItems with BoundingBoxArea and Size sort orders, covered by two passing xUnit tests.

Consolidated two stateless classes into one unified API: Dxf.Import(),
Dxf.GetGeometry(), Dxf.ExportPlate(), Dxf.ExportProgram(). Export
state moved into a private ExportContext. Removed bool+out pattern
from GetGeometry in favor of returning empty list on failure.

Tries each candidate plate size via the nesting engine, compares results
by part count then net cost (accounting for salvage credit on remnant
material), and returns the best option.

Box constructor and derived properties (Right, Top, Center, Translate, Offset)
had Width and Length swapped — Length is X axis, Width is Y axis. Corrected
across Core geometry, plate bounding box, rectangle packing, fill algorithms,
tests, and UI renderers.
Added FillSpiral with center remnant detection and recursive FillBest on
the gap between the 4 spiral quadrants. RectFill.FillBest now compares
spiral+center vs full best-fit fairly. BestCombination returns a
CombinationResult record instead of out params.
