Replace the plain-text report with a colored status banner, per-check
count tiles and a findings list grouped by check type, with the selected
finding shown in full below it. A Copy Report button keeps the full text
report available. Consent, cancellation and failure blocking are unchanged.

The cut planner status shows the run's elapsed time, and its inputs stay
enabled while planning: changing one cancels the run and starts a new one.
Cut-off settings open once the cancelled run releases the plates.

Operators often build a nest first and only then want it kept as a
reusable kit. The drawing list's new "Add Library Drawings to Set..."
takes every drawing copied from this server's library, sums copies of
one library drawing, and opens the set editor on a chosen or new set
for review and Save. Unlinked, other-server and zero-quantity drawings
are named as skipped instead of silently dropped.
Members the set already lists keep the set's quantity: a nest released
from a set carries its kit multiplier, so copying its quantities back
would scale the kit on every round trip. Members are added at the
library's latest revision (S1), with a note when the nest holds an
older one or the drawing is archived.

A set is only useful on the floor once it becomes nests. Release on the
Sets tab previews one row per material group with a kit multiplier, an
archived-drawing toggle and a tick per group, then builds each ticked
group's nest as File > New would, in the group's units, uploads it as a
Draft, opens it in its own tab bound to the server record and records the
release. Every group's outcome stays on screen, and a release whose
nests exist but whose record failed can be recorded again.
Releases shows each release's nests and how far they have got ("2 of 3
cut"), and Nest Info names the release a nest came from, so a kit run can
be followed across its nests. Plate defaults convert between inches and
millimeters so a group drawn in other units still gets sensible plates.

Operators need to build kits from library drawings before they can be
released. The Drawing Library dialog gains a Sets tab beside Drawings,
so sets live where their drawings are browsed: list, search, archive,
restore, history, and an editor whose Add Drawings reuses the library in
a multi-select pick mode. The Drawings tab's menu shows which sets use a
drawing and adds it to a chosen or new set.
DrawingSetEditSession keeps a new set's id across a save whose reply was
lost, so a retry adopts the stored set instead of creating it twice, and
guards existing-set saves with the revision they were read at.

Nests released from drawing sets need a state before Quote: created but not
yet nested or checked. Draft is appended to NestStatus (value 3) because the
server still accepts integer statuses from existing callers, so existing
numbers must not shift; NestStatuses.WorkflowOrder puts it first wherever the
operator picks a status.
Older desktops read Draft as Quote (the documented unknown-status fallback),
and an older server refuses "draft", so the server must be upgraded before
desktops that can set it.

Stopping a fill only requests cancellation; its worker keeps reading
Plate.Parts until it returns. The progress window is modeless, so a
click or key on the plate view in that window (clone placement, Delete,
arrow nudges, drops) changed the part list mid-enumeration and threw
"Collection was modified" in PlateFillService.TryAddClear.
PlateView now refuses editing input while IsFillInProgress, the same
way it does during an inspection. Panning and zooming stay live.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The status bar's "Plate N of M" counted the trailing empty plate, and its
plate number and size repeated what the plate view header already shows.
Drop Plate, Size and Qty from the status bar. Show the plate quantity in the
header as "×N" when it is above one, and keep Util in the status bar so it
stays visible while the Drawings tab is open.
Add a Material label (name and thickness) that opens Nest Info when
clicked. Nest Info remains the only place to edit material, and the label
refreshes after the dialog closes.

The nest name box was always read-only, so a nest could only be renamed
by Save As, which leaves the old copy behind. In Database mode Nest Info
now edits the name (uploaded with the next Save), as does the saved-nest
browser's Nest Information (saved immediately). File mode keeps it
read-only because the file name is the nest name. Renaming to a name
another active nest already has asks first, and declining reopens the
dialog with the edits kept; a duplicate accepted there is not asked about
again by the nest's first Save.

File > New restarted its counter every day while names only carry the
year, so the first nest of each day was always N26-223, and each PC kept
its own counter. In Database mode the nest server now hands out the
year's next number (POST /api/nest-names/next, nest_sequences table,
schema v6), staying above every stored generated name so offline or
pre-existing names are never reissued. The per-PC counter remains the
fallback when the server is unreachable or older, resets per year, and
is raised past each server allocation.

Clamps could only sit on the origin-side edge and be edited as a list in
Nest > Clamps. Setting them up against a real sheet is easier by dragging
them where they are, so Plate > Edit Clamps adds an edit mode: drag a clamp
along its edge or onto another edge, click near an edge to add one, click a
clamp's locating dimension to type its distance from the origin, Delete to
remove. Dimensions measure to the clamp center or its near edge
(remembered per user). Edits replace the nest's rail so every sheet follows,
like the dialog.
Rail clamps now carry a ClampEdge (origin side, far side, origin end, far
end), positioned from the origin along that edge. Origin-side clamps keep
their ids and files; other edges persist in optional per-edge arrays in
.nest files and clamps.json, omitted when empty.

Changing a rate, the pierce time or the machine rebuilt the timeline and
kept the playhead's old time. That time pointed at a different move on
the retimed timeline, so the torch jumped around while settings were
adjusted. When the new timeline has the same moves, Load now finds the
same move and how far through it the torch was (CutSimulation.TimeAt
inverts FractionAt, acceleration included).
The in-progress rapid was drawn whole with a dashed pen. GDI+ cost grows
with dash count: zoomed in, one paint of a long rapid can take seconds
to minutes. It is now clipped to the visible area, as finished rapids
already were.

Auto Nest no longer draws parts on the plate view before they are kept:
its result is a set of sheets, possibly of several sizes, not parts on the
current plate. Ghost parts stay with interactive Fill and remnant tools.
- NestJobStage.PlanImproved carries an engine's best whole-job plan so far;
Irregular reports one whenever a variant or the tail re-plan beats it.
- NestPipeline adds PlanSheets: the plan on detached drawings built from
the job geometry (with the caller's names and colors), so previews never
touch caller drawings or quantities.
- SheetStripControl draws every sheet side by side at one scale, repeats
once with their count, captioned with size, parts and utilization.
- The progress window shows "Best plan so far"; a review window shows the
final sheets, totals, cost summary and unplaced parts before commit.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
NestProgress gains PreviewSheet, a detached plate for the stock the preview
parts lie on; Irregular builds one per stock. PlateView draws it (size, edge
spacing, clamps) in place of the plate while the preview is shown and drops
it whenever the preview is cleared or the plate changes. Auto Nest zooms out
when a trial sheet falls outside what it has already shown.

Staged cut-offs were appended after every part, so a kept order (the
"Keep the current part order" option, or the fallback after a free
search runs out of budget) always conflicted with any cut-off crossing
a part. PlateSequencing.PlaceCutOffs moves each new cut-off to just
before the first part it crosses, separators last, without moving
anything else; the panel applies it after staging.
The free search also learned "cut the cut-off first" only after a full
stall, re-planning the many-holed parts before it. A cut-off is a fixed
program that never gets harder to cut earlier, so a crossing approach
into a non-separating cut-off now teaches that rule at once. On the
reported 35-part plate this drops the plan from 23,930 expansions (over
the 20,000 budget) to 15,605.

Drawing Properties now says whether the drawing's color is custom or comes
from the color scheme, and an Automatic button clears the custom color. On
save the drawing gets its palette slot back through RecolorDrawings when the
nest is known, otherwise by its non-cutoff index.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Add Drawing.HasCustomColor, set when a color is picked in Drawing
Properties or comes from a library record with a stored color.
- Persist it as customColor in .nest files (omitted when false) and keep it
out of drawing packages; split pieces inherit it.
- Recolor non-custom drawings from the active palette when a nest opens and
when the scheme changes; custom colors keep their palette slot.
- Library settings store a color only when it is custom.
- Document drawing colors in nest-file-format.md and nesting-view-colors.md.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Add the Blueprint scheme: navy canvas, pale blue sheet, dark navy part
outlines, orange-red rapids and twelve distinct, readable part fills.
- Use it as the settings default and the fallback for unknown scheme names,
and list it first in Options. Saved scheme choices are kept.
- Run the palette spacing and readability tests over Blueprint and Classic.
- Document the default in nesting-view-colors.md.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
- Replace the Classic part palette with twelve clearly distinct fills that
stay readable with black IDs and clear of etch green; darken the canvas.
- Pick black or white part-ID labels by fill luminance; drop the underline.
- Give the cut simulator trail a pale casing so it shows on warm parts.
- Number plates in the status bar the same way as the plate header.
- Add ClassicPaletteTests covering palette spacing, contrast and labels.

The overlay re-stroked the whole finished trail on every paint: about
275 ms at zoom-to-fit on a 392-part plate and over 11 s zoomed in, where
dashed rapids spanned millions of on-screen dashes.
The finished trail is now cached in a bitmap at the current scale, so a
pan or playback frame blits it and draws only the moves since. A wheel
zoom stretches the cached image until the wheel has been still for
150 ms, then redraws it sharp. When the trail would be too large an
image, each paint draws only the moves on screen and clips straight
rapids to the view. Arcs are added as GDI+ arcs instead of 5-degree
polylines.

The Clear Lead-ins & Cut-offs button stays enabled during planning.
Confirming cancels the running plan, clears once the cancellation lands
so the plates never change under the planner, then replans.

Plate > Simulate Cutting replays the active plate in cutting order: the
torch traces cuts, rapids and pierces timed like Calculate Cut Time, with
play/pause, scrubbing, 1x-250x speed, step and part/cutout jumps. Parts
the torch has not reached are drawn muted.

Built-in festive schemes theme the background, sheet and accents while
keeping 12-color part palettes distinct, light enough for black part IDs
and clear of the green etch stroke. They are only applied when chosen;
there is no automatic seasonal switching.

A hole can now be declared a tabbed cutout in the CAD Converter: pick a
circle or any edge of a closed hole, set the tab count and width, and drag
the tabs around the hole. The definition persists on the drawing and in the
nest file, and stays editable from the source entities.
The builder replaces the hole with open cut pieces and uncut spans on a new
Tab layer. Tabs are material, so area, nesting and overlap checks still see
a closed hole, but they are never cut. Plan Cutting and Assign Lead-ins cut
each piece from the slug with the internal lead-in and no lead-out. A lead
that would reach back over a tab is mirrored, and an arc lead onto an arc
pierces straight in. Planning accounts for each span between tabs and runs
the open-cut proof, so its own tabbed cutouts certify; tabs followed by a
lead-out are still refused. Pre-post review flags programs that still
contain tab motions.

A cutout cut in pieces around tabs is a set of open cut figures. Filling the
cut outline closed each piece with a chord, drawing a slanted bridge across
the hole. The fill path now rejoins open figures across their tab gaps, and
parts with open cuts use it for drawing, hit-testing and the lead-in overlay.

Schema v5 stores each distinct drawing package once in drawing_packages,
keyed by SHA-256; revisions point at it, so details, settings, archive and
restore revisions add no blob. The v4 drawing tables are replaced outright
(no production library existed); nest tables are untouched.
Nesting settings (cut first, priority, rotation constraints, color) become
structured record fields (DrawingLibraryRecord.Settings), returned on every
read, filterable by cutFirst, editable through the metadata endpoint and
applied by LibraryDrawingInsert. Canonical packages now leave every
record-owned field at its default, so renaming or changing settings never
changes the package hash. Saving a nest drawing to the library carries its
settings into the record.
The desktop library browser gains a Cut first column and an Edit Settings
dialog that saves notes and settings as a new revision with the same package.

Moves startup and settings code out of MainForm:
- PostProcessorLoader discovers posts and registers their materials.
Each DLL now loads in isolation; a failing one is named in a startup
warning instead of throwing out of the MainForm constructor.
- MachineSettings owns the clamp-settings and nest-defaults entry points
and their once-per-session warnings; BomImportForm calls it directly.
- NewNestFactory creates File > New nests and their daily names;
GetNestName is now a pure static the characterization test calls.
- MainWindowSettings restores/saves window placement and migrates the
legacy nest template.
- UpdaterStatus owns the updater and its status-bar item.

Moves the long workflow handlers into OpenNest/Forms/Commands:
AutoNestCommand (dialog, owned modal progress, solve, validation review,
commit and result notices), PostCommand (prepare, configure, verify,
save dialog, multi-file overwrite confirmation) and NestStorageController
(database open/save/save-as with reconciliation and storage errors).
MainForm keeps the busy guards, the nesting lockout and nestingCts, and
reacts to the controller's StateChanged to lock storage settings and
saving. The characterization test now flips the controller's IsSaving
instead of the removed databaseSaveInProgress field.

Pins the nest-name format and which operations each MainForm busy
guard counts, ahead of splitting and consolidating MainForm.

Lists every part in the cutting inspection panel's scope, including ones
with no finding, so an all-clear nest doesn't just look like an empty
grid. Selecting a part jumps to its first issue or zooms to it when clear.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Breakoffs are now picked by their joining line, default to the smaller side as scrap
(flippable), and cut that line between tabs on a new Break layer instead of slots.
Plan Cutting and Assign Lead-ins enter each cut from the scrap with the nest's internal
lead-in, or pierce on the line without one; checks treat break cuts as intentional open
cuts that are not material.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Forming backgauge tabs drawn as open cuts came off the sheet loose and could not be
planned. A breakoff merges the scrap into the outline and cuts the shared edge as
closed slots between tabs, so it stays attached and every pierce lands in scrap.

Fix the focus-sensitive failure in HighlightedNestShowsItsPlatesAndDrawings_AndEnterOpensIt from GitHub run 39042902952. Explicitly focus the nest grid and assert it owns focus before sending Enter. Production keyboard handling and all existing open, cancel, and missing-archive assertions remain unchanged.
The cut planner disabled "Add scrap cut-offs" along with every other
control while a plan ran, including the very first auto-started plan.
It now stays enabled; toggling it mid-plan cancels the run in progress
and restarts planning with the new setting.

Since 5.2 a locked program's own rapid crossing is a fixed-lead warning on an
UNVERIFIED plate, so it no longer makes the panel's "Can't apply" case. The
blocked plate now holds overlapping parts, a hard block, and the test checks
the same navigation and no-partial-Apply behaviour.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Operators can now save a nest drawing to the shared drawing library. Right-
click a drawing in the drawing list > Save to Drawing Library... opens a
dialog with name, customer, material (post materials suggested), grade,
thickness, cut type and notes, prefilled by the save model; units follow the
nest.
Whenever the details change, the dialog looks up library drawings with the
same details and offers Save as: the next revision of the match (the default
for one match or the linked drawing), a choice among several, or a separate
drawing. Save stays disabled until the lookup for the current details has
finished, so a choice can never apply to details it was not made for. A 409
is shown and the choices are refreshed; a save that could not be confirmed
tells the operator that saving again checks it and never stores it twice.
On success only the drawing's library link changes, and the chosen cut type
is remembered per PC. There is no nest dirty flag to set, so the operator
saves the nest to keep the new link. The item is Database mode only and is
shown only where the drawing list's host handles it (not the best-fit viewer).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Operators can now pull shared library drawings into a nest. Nest > Add from
Drawing Library... and a Library button above the drawing list open a paged
browser (name, customer, material, grade, thickness, cut type, revision, saved)
with a notes preview and a quantity. It starts filtered to the nest's material,
grade and thickness, with Show all to lift that.
Add downloads the listed revision's immutable package, not the current one, so
a revision saved meanwhile can never be what lands in the nest. The insert is
planned first and every warning or refusal is shown before the nest changes;
the dialog is modal, so the nest cannot move between plan and apply. The dialog
stays open for further adds and the drawing list refreshes on close.
Both entries are Database mode only: the library lives on the nest server, so
in File mode they are disabled with a "Database mode only" tooltip.

The GPU hooks in MainForm were commented out, so ILGPU only powered a
status-bar label that reported a GPU device the nesting never used. Removing
the reference drops OpenNest.Gpu and ILGPU from the desktop output. The GPU
kernel tests reference OpenNest.Gpu directly; Training still uses it.

The outcome line sat mid-panel in coloured text and was easy to miss. It
now leads the panel in a tinted, outlined banner, and the existing
lead-in/cut-off alert uses the same style so the panel has one alert
look. The part-order search turns the banner bright orange because it is
the slow phase the operator waits on.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The proposal preview skipped the cut-off overlay: it carries cut-off parts but no
cut-off definitions, so planner cut-offs looked like thin black part outlines
instead of the orange-red dashes used everywhere else. The preview now draws each
cut-off part's own cutting moves in that style.
The same paint guard hid the validation overlay over a preview, so issue markers
for unverified plans were set but never drawn. The overlay now draws on proposals
too, with the marker's part numbers mapped to the preview's proposed order so the
right parts stay highlighted.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Plan Cutting findings dropped the checker's geometry, so selecting one could only
zoom to part extents, and overlap-blocked plates (no preview) did nothing at all.
Findings now keep the check's world-coordinate witness (overlap regions, rapid,
contacts); selecting a row draws it with the Validate Nest overlay, on the proposal
or a blocked plate's live sheet. The witness is excluded from finding equality so
repeated search rejections still collapse to one finding.
The side panel's scrolling report was a wall of text operators skipped. It is now
a colored outcome line, one line for the shown plate, and one remedy or marker
hint above the issue grid, with secondary detail moved to tooltips.

Operators sometimes pull a clamp for a manual layout, but only Auto Nest's
last-resort search could take clamps off a sheet. Right-clicking a clamp in
Select mode now offers to remove it from that sheet or put it back, reusing
the existing per-sheet RemovedClamps, so the zones, cut-time charge, display
and .nest persistence all behave as they do for Auto Nest removals.
The change is refused while a nest run or fill may be reading the clamps,
sharing the guard the Clamps dialog already used.
