Part.Intersects has been silently non-functional everywhere it's used.
Shape.ToPolygon()/ToPolygonWithTolerance() never called UpdateBounds(),
so every freshly-built polygon kept Entity's constructor-default
zero-size bounding box regardless of its actual vertices. Collision.Check's
first step is a bounding-box pre-filter, and a zero-size box can never
overlap anything, so it always short-circuited to "no overlap" no matter
what the real geometry looked like.
That masked a second bug: Part.Intersects built its polygons via the
unconditional 1000-segments-per-arc ToPolygon() default instead of an
adaptive tolerance. For parts with several small fillets/holes this
produced tens of thousands of vertices, making the now-correct bbox
check fall through into a triangulation/clip step too slow to return
in practice. Switched to ToPolygonWithTolerance at a named tolerance
matching PartGeometry's existing convention.
PairEvaluator's own Keep/overlap check had a third, independent bug:
it used Shape.Intersects (edge-crossing detection only) at a coarse
0.01 chord tolerance, which misses containment-style overlaps and can
polygonize rounded corners coarsely enough to hide a genuine sliver
overlap. Switched to Collision.HasOverlap (full polygon clip, handles
containment) at a tighter dedicated tolerance.
Verified against a real nest file: PairFiller was tiling a BestFit
pair that PairEvaluator had incorrectly marked Keep=true, producing
visibly overlapping parts on the plate that no downstream overlap
check ever caught.
Known follow-up: OpenNest.Tests.BestFit.BestFitOverlapTests.KeptPairs_NoOverlap
still fails on 3/1082 synthetic candidates that overlap by a sub-0.001
sliver right at a rounded-corner tangent point — a separate, much
smaller precision edge case in PairEvaluator's raw (pre-transform)
coordinate frame, not a regression from this change.
Repo-wide sweep with the pinned CSharpier 1.3.0 tool. Whitespace and
line-wrapping only; OpenNest.Engine.Tests (109) and OpenNest.IO.Tests
pass after reformat, full solution builds 0 errors.
Added .csharpierignore so csproj/config XML keeps its existing layout
(CSharpier's XML wrapping churns attributes with zero benefit).
Formatting is now enforceable: dotnet csharpier check . passes.
ShapeProfile.NormalizeEntities called Shape.Reverse() which flipped arc
directions on the original entity objects shared with the CAD view. Switching
to the Program tab and back would leave arcs reversed. Clone entities before
normalizing so the originals stay untouched.
Adds abstract Entity.Clone() with implementations on Line, Arc, Circle,
Polygon, and Shape (deep-clones children). Also adds CloneAll() extension
and replaces manual duplication in PartGeometry.CopyEntitiesAtLocation and
ProgramEditorControl.CloneEntity.

Circle.Rotation was lost in three places, causing reversed circles to
still offset inward instead of outward:
- ConvertGeometry.AddCircle hardcoded CCW instead of using circle.Rotation
- ConvertProgram.AddArcMove created Circle without setting Rotation from arc
- Shape.OffsetOutward/OffsetInward copied Circle without setting Rotation

OffsetOutward now normalizes to CW winding before offsetting instead of
trial-and-error with bounding box comparison. CadConverterForm designer
regenerated with new entityView1 properties.

Convex corners were being miter-joined (lines extended to a point)
because IntersectsUnbounded always finds an intersection for non-parallel
lines. Now checks the cross product of original line directions to detect
convex corners and inserts an arc instead.

Etch marks for up bends are now real geometry entities on an ETCH layer
instead of being drawn dynamically. They flow through the full pipeline:
entities → FilterPanel layers → ConvertGeometry (tagged as Scribe) →
post-processor sequencing before cut geometry.
Also includes ShapeProfile normalization (CW perimeter, CCW cutouts)
applied consistently across all import paths, and inward offset support
for cutout shapes in overlap/offset polygon calculations.

- Replace raw Panel with EntityView (via SplitPreview subclass) for proper
zoom-to-point, middle-button pan, and double-buffered rendering
- Add draggable handles for tab/spike positions along split lines; positions
flow through to WeldGapTabSplit and SpikeGrooveSplit via SplitLine.FeaturePositions
- Fix OK/Cancel buttons hidden off-screen by putting them in a bottom-docked panel
- Fix DrawControl not invalidating on resize
- Swap plate Width/Length label order, default edge spacing to 0.5
- Rename tab labels: Tab Width→Tab Length, Tab Height→Weld Gap, default count 2
- Spike depth now calculated (read-only), groove depth means positioning depth
beyond spike tip (default 0.125), converted to total depth internally
- Set entity layers visible so EntityView renders them

Shape.OffsetEntity computed joins between consecutive offset segments
but never joined the last segment back to the first, leaving the
closing corner with a straight line instead of a proper miter/arc.
Track the first entity and apply the same join logic after the loop.
Also wrap nest template loading in try-catch so a corrupt template
file doesn't crash the app on startup — falls back to default nest.

DXF files can have endpoint gaps at entity junctions that fall right at
the floating-point boundary of Tolerance.Epsilon (0.00001). This caused
shapes to not close, resulting in 0 area and 0% utilization in Best-Fit.
Added ChainTolerance (0.0001) for endpoint chaining in GetConnected and
Shape.IsClosed, keeping the tighter Epsilon for geometric precision.

The push algorithm's copy distance formula (bboxDim - slideDistance)
produced distances smaller than the part width when inflated boundary
arc vertices interacted spuriously, causing ~0.05 unit overlaps between
all adjacent grid parts.
Two fixes applied:
- Clamp ComputeCopyDistance to bboxDim + PartSpacing minimum
- Use circumscribed polygons (R/cos(halfStep)) for PartBoundary arc
discretization so chord segments never cut inside the true arc,
eliminating the ChordTolerance offset workaround
Also parallelized three sequential fill loops using Parallel.ForEach:
- FindBestFill angle sweep (up to 38 angles x 2 directions)
- FillPattern angle sweep for group/pair fills
- FillRemainingStrip rotation loop
Added diagnostic logging to HasOverlaps, FindCopyDistance, and
FillRecursive for debugging fill issues.
Test result: 45 parts @ 79.6% -> 47 parts @ 83.1%, zero overlaps.

SetRotation always forced CW regardless of the requested rotation,
so cutouts (which should be CCW for kerf-left) were also set to CW.
Now uses the rotation parameter to set the correct winding direction.
Also reverts the Shape.OffsetEntity cutout side inversion since the
correct fix is proper winding from the converter.

Cutouts wind opposite to the perimeter, so using the same OffsetSide
expands holes instead of shrinking them. Invert the side for cutouts
so the offset buffer correctly contracts holes inward.

Add SegmentsForTolerance(double) to Arc and Circle that calculates the
minimum segments needed to keep sagitta within the given tolerance.
Add Shape.ToPolygonWithTolerance() that uses it per arc/circle.
Push distance now uses 0.08" chord tolerance instead of a fixed segment
count, giving appropriate resolution for each arc based on its radius.
