dev-build.yml runs after Cross-platform tests pass on a master push,
packages that commit as X.Y.Z-dev.N (the minor after the newest vX.Y.Z
tag, N the commit count) and replaces the single rolling dev-build
pre-release. Only its publish job has release write access, and a run
whose commit is no longer master's head publishes nothing.
Tools > Options > Include development builds lets an installed copy take
that pre-release; everyone else still sees full releases only.
Publish-Windows.ps1 accepts -dev.N versions.

Publish-Windows.ps1 now packs the smoke-tested folder with the pinned vpk
CLI (.config/dotnet-tools.json, 1.2.0 to match the Velopack package) into
velopack/: Setup.exe, Portable.zip, the full nupkg, releases.win.json and
RELEASES, checked for the full package and the portable layout and hashed
into OpenNest.vX.Y.Z.velopack.sha256. The release workflow uploads them
with the candidate.
With no feed URL set, installed copies now check GitHub Releases (full
releases only) instead of skipping update checks; a URL in Options still
selects a self-hosted feed. Deploy-OpenNest.ps1 uses the pinned vpk.

Publishing a GitHub Release, stable or pre-release, now only validates the
server image. A desktop release and a server image release are separate
owner decisions, so a stable desktop release cannot publish an image that
has not been accepted yet.
Add OpenNest.Desktop (net8.0), the toolkit-neutral layer the WinForms app
and OpenNest.Avalonia will share, and OpenNest.Desktop.Tests with a guard
that the library references no WinForms/WindowsDesktop, System.Drawing.Common
or Avalonia assembly, project setting or (transitive) package.
Both desktop front ends reference it; OpenNest.Avalonia joins OpenNest.sln
and the new tests join the Linux CI matrix. No code moves yet.

Runs the four cross-platform suites as a matrix and the six synthetic
Irregular nests in their own job, with a fail-closed final "tests"
check.
Conflict in ci.yml: take the branch's Linux jobs and keep master's
windows-desktop job unchanged after them. actionlint and the aggregate
checker self-tests pass on the merged file.
The release workflow is the only hosted job that runs the Core, Engine,
IO and Server suites on Windows, and it had no hang guard: a silent test
would hold the runner until the 30-minute cap with no clue which test
hung. Apply the guard the windows-desktop CI job already uses:
--blame-hang-timeout 5m with a mini dump, and upload all of TestResults
rather than only the TRX files.
The suites have roughly doubled since the last release run (7.5 min),
so raise the job cap to 45 minutes. Validated with actionlint.
The first windows-desktop run hung for 25 minutes with no output and
ran until it was cancelled. Pass --blame-hang-timeout 5m so a test that
is silent for five minutes is killed, named in the log and mini-dumped
into TestResults, then cap the job at 20 minutes and upload all of
TestResults, not just the TRX files.
Checked locally with a throwaway xunit project: a Thread.Sleep(Infinite)
test was killed after the configured inactivity, named in the output,
and left a TRX, a test-order (Sequence) file and a mini dump; dotnet test
exited 1.
Pushes to master only ran the Linux job, which can cross-compile but
not execute OpenNest.WinForms.Tests; Windows test runs happened only on
release branches and tags. Add a windows-2022 job to the cross-platform
workflow that runs OpenNest.WinForms.Tests and OpenNest.FrontEnd.Tests
in Release on every master push and pull request, runs both projects
before failing, and uploads their TRX results.
