A plate of tags with arc-outline digits found no plan, although each cutout had a clear entry. Eroded pierces were offered only when no configured lead fit, so a letter with one fitting lead on the wrong side stayed stuck with it, and an uncertain lead check skipped erosion altogether. Recovery also spent its allowance on the outside entries and accepted the first it reached, leaving a part on a side the next rapid had to cross it from. Count uncertain leads as no fit. Give recovery a last, separately funded try that adds eroded pierces for the outside entries ranked ahead of the first reached, and hold back routes that end facing away from the next cut until then. Drop a lead that touches only in the whole emission, where rounding moves it, rather than rebuilding the same chain. Plans reached from their best entry keep their entries.
